This is a set of 6 of my half-moon ceramic vessels designed to be used as pendants or beading components to hold artisan fragrance or aromatherapy oils.

Andi,
Those are beautiful. I especially like the green....my favorite color. I also like the effect on the bottom vessel. When filled with oil, can you smell the scent...or not, because of the glaze? Just curious.

Since I'd like to prevent the bulk of the oil from being absorbed into the stoneware, I generally glaze the interior as well. (I use a syringe to get the glaze inside, fill the vessel with glaze and then draw the excess back out with the syringe...) I use waste glazes on the interior so it isn't usually a perfect fit but with a mature stoneware body, the little bit of crazing doesn't seem to make too much difference.

Where you tend to smell the scent is actually from the cork. The oils travel through the cell walls of the cork. (Even more is actually leaked out every time that the cork is removed and there tends to be something of a concentration around the cork on the mouth of the vessel.)

Those half-moons are right up there with the goddesses on the list of my favorite things to make. I can get into a rhythm and, unless I'm interrupted, the next thing I know I look down at the worktable and discover a little stack of them waiting for finishing work. I'm just not awareof the passage of time or anything else.

this is not a bad thing

It is like meditating, only with my hands instead of my mind. Tonight's ceramic meditations were some of my twin chambered vessels.

I simply love your work.

I love texture. Textured surfaces really do make a huge impact on a small scale. I've seen your work, too. I don't have the patience or desire to make finished jewelry. :)
